Photography at 160kmph

During my drive back from Seoul to Daegu last week, I got a strange idea of taking pictures while driving. It was prompted by the fall colors still looking pretty (though it was pretty late in autumn).

Pictures have not done justice to the actual beauty as I was driving at almost 140-160km/hr and the light condition was not so good. Add to that the problem of huge expressway taking the centre-stage always. Also, I had to make sure that I do not get too much involved in taking the pictures and become a picture myself.

Here are some of the pictures which came out well. Click on the pictures to see enlarged view.

Comments are welcome if this was worth an experiment.

PS:
  • I missed some of the best views because of the Friday traffic.
  • Only one time I got out of lane while taking pictures.

Changi Airport: It lives upto the hype.

I have been to Singapore many times while transiting on my way to Korea. Each time I discover something new to do at the airport and as I explore more, it keeps on impressing me. It is the best in terms of basic facilities which any international standard airport is expected to have. But they are making a conscious effort to make it better for people in transit. It hosts 80 airlines with almost 4000 flights every week.

The best thing is the free city tour if you have more than 4 hrs of transit time. I used this last time when I was here in daytime. Here are some of the pics from last trip:

While going for Diwali vacation this time, I got another 5hrs break in Singapore and I was looking forward to the Santosa Island trip which I was planning to take this time. But the flight got delayed and I could not join the trip in time. This left me with no option other than exploring the airport. It looked changed from the last time I visited. I wondered what was wrong with the look it had last time around. Well, changes are always better.

Naveen always used to tell about the Indian restaurant here and I decided to have some Alu-puri and Gulab Jamun over there. It was nice to have some Indian food after the recent days in Korea. I decided to check out the Sunflower garden on the terrace overlooking the flights. After that I headed to the free movie screening area which I never explored earlier. It looked good for a nap as they were playing Star Movies with not many interesting movies. I decided to check out the hotels and spas around and everything was very reasonably priced.

Free interenet access is never a surprise at Singapore Airport. You can find it everywhere just like drinking water and rest rooms. But what impressed me this time was the I-connect zone. It had interenet with Yahoo and MSN IM's including the webcam and microphone installed. What else can a transit passenger ask for if you get video conferencing facility for free? It is no wonder Singapore is asia's hub for internet.

I always used to enjoy the massaging chairs installed in the airport near F40 gate. I was feeling tired as I had been going around the huge airport for more than 2 hours. So, headed towards that area but this time they had transformed it into a chair SPA facility which was charged 10 bucks. I did not have time for the massage and I did not want to go all the way back to exchange the money as well. Decided to relax at the comfortable chairs in the movie theatre.

There are so many things which I could not explore. But it was amazing how a boring wait can be turned into an opportunity to showcase your country's hospitality. Singapore is really a tourist's paradise.
